Every time I read that young Americans prefer socialism, I feel a deep sadness—not anger, but sorrow. They were told that they are revolutionaries. In reality, they are victims of poor education. They have not been taught about the empty shelves or the late-night knock of the secret police. They were not taught that the most ambitious socialist experiments ended in repression, and in some countries even pure genocide. Millions of lives across the globe were lost in the name of this utopian dream.
